28 Days Later 2002, R, 113 Min
I've always been a big fan of zombie movies (although people keep arguing that this isn't a "zombie" movie, but in my book it is) and I feel this one is HIGHLY overrated, but not to say that it is bad by any means. The plot isn't an incredible original take on the subject, but basically a labrotory is doing experiments on monkies by giving them "rage" which pumps their adrenolin up, but the problem is that it pumps it up to high and the monkies turn into homicidal maniacs (uh oh!) and escape from there cages and attack the scientists which gives them rage as well. To get rage you don't have to be bitten by one that is infected, all you have to do is injest infected blood and you are infected almost immediatly. Well anyway, fast forward 28 days later (hence the title of the movie) and almost all of England has been overrun by rage and only a select few are left uninfected. It starts off with a guy named Jim walking through the empty streets yelling "Hello!" (which I guess is a "reference" to Day Of The Dead when Miguel is walking through a completly empty Florida yelling Hello, they even sound almost exactly alike)and he eventually meets 2 more survivors, and then a they meet a couple more and so on. They hear a radio broadcast from an army base that they have found a way to stop rage, an they all decide to go to the army base to see what they can do (Day Of The Dead takes place in an Army base too...). I won't go into any more detail about the plot. A lot of people seem to love this movie and are calling it the best zombie movie ever made, but i'm afraid I must disagree. I do think this is a pretty good movie, but I still prefer older zombie movies, but that is just me. There is a fair amount of gore for a mainstream movie which pleased me. The thing I liked about the zombies in this movie as that they were fucking nuts, they were always running around yelling and throwing their arms all over the place, they really wanted the peoples blood and didn't care what they had to do to get it. There is plenty of gore, not alot of nudity other then the opening shot of Jim laying in a hosptial totally naked......
